Abstract

In this article, we present the meanings that students in graduation situation build of university formation from their experience and personal, educational and social journeys in the different university macro areas of Montevideo and regional university centers (Cenures) of the UR, emerging from the conducted research: What do students look for in the University? Experiences and meaning of formation. A biographical-narrative approach based on conducting group interviews and in-depth individual interviews composed the qualitative methodological design. It involved the construction of the universitary experience and the student’s educational trajectories through graphic and verbal supports, respectively The meaning of self-construction that opens to a meaning of singularity of formation and a meaning of survival through formation; the meaning... meaning of formation, that which brings questions and uncertainties: being and being with otherness; the meaning of terri- torialization of formation that includes a subject who has access to university studies in their own territory, who develops the university in the territory; inaugurate this universitary and social moment. Linked to this is the historical meaning of formation in the public university, which reclaims the autonomy and freedom, and fundamentally the gratuity, in which we will not deepen in this instance.
